Episode 501: Leah Roberts

On March 9, 2000, Leah set off from her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, and headed west, following in the footsteps of her literary hero, Jack Keroac. The idea of a spontaneous trip fit in with Leah’s adventurous spirit, so no one was initially concerned, despite the fact that she hadn’t mentioned the trip to anyone.

But as days passed without word, Leah’s family reported her missing. Five days later, her sister Kara got a shocking message: Leah’s Jeep Cherokee had been found wrecked at the bottom of a ravine in Whatcom County, Washington. All of Leah’s belongings were found at the accident scene, but Leah was nowhere to be found.
