Episode 419: Erin Marie Gilbert
In basic terms, Occam’s Razor states that given two theories, the simplest answer is often correct. But in true crime, that’s not always the case– especially when it comes to unsolved mysteries. On July 1, 1995, Erin Marie Gilbert attended the Girdwood Forest Fair in Girdwood, Alaska. She was on a first date with a man named David Combs. David later claimed that he had car trouble and that while he was looking for help, Erin disappeared.
Combs initially cooperated with the police investigation into Erin’s disappearance but quickly stopped talking. As more of his story came out, the less it seemed to add up. So is the simplest answer the correct one? Or, is there a possibility that David Combs, who has never been named as a suspect in Erin’s disappearance truly had nothing to do with it?
Anyone with information on the disappearance of Erin Marie Gilbert is asked to call the Alaska State Trooper Cold Case Unit at 1-907-269-5511. Her family is offering a $35,000 reward in this case.
